Winterthur / Switzerland
(split up in 2008)
After 5 influential years Swiss hardcore band Solid Ground have decided to call it a day. Their gloriousness is unquestioned and they will be dearly missed.
Solid Ground was a band that started out amongst five friends simply wanting to play traditional hardcore. The result was an established institution that strongly shaped hardcore in the new millennium and lead the way for dozens of new bands.
With a self-produced demo ("Run and Hide", 2004) and two spirit-filled and intense albums ("Get Used To It", 2005 Dead Serious & "Can't Stop Now", 2008 Let it Burn Records), Solid Ground's legacy as a invigorating pillar of the European hardcore scene became finally manifested.
Extensive touring and constant passionate live shows all over Europe introduced the band to more and more listeners every year of their existance. But Solid Ground shows were always more than just honest and raw live-music. It was a gathering of friends, meeting old pals and new ones, hanging out and having a good time together, just what hardcore originally was about.
It's kinda odd to celebrate a dead band so I will stop at this point after letting you know one last thing: Solid Ground have left us an amazing final present, a farewell EP released through Let it Burn Records on January 1, 2009. It is titled "This World Keeps Spinning Without You" and is available FOR FREE at www.myspace.com/solidgroundrip. A physical cd version is following in March 2009.
